Your airborne perspective when everything but you and God are whittled away to your sparrowness. I love it and I cheer for you. Another opening to who you are. I must admit this has happened to me several times in my life, continues to do so, but never do I have the words at the time. The wonder of it robs me of the right words, or words at all. So thank you for the reminder of Kierkegaard and the blessing of my noise cancellation headphones, which I use with frequency.
Love this, Mary. Made me smile thinking of you with noise canceling head phones :-) And I totally agree that the true sparrow encounter might not even have words. At least not at that very moment. It is just a moment of silent awe which says it all.
Almut, you said so much of what I love about flying to Europe. You take off and you disappear into the night and it’s a special feeling/experience that you can’t really get in any other situation. Then in the morning you reappear in a new place! Sharing it with the strangers you’re flying with is somehow very exciting for me. When you said you were alone I knew exactly what you meant, even before you explained it! 😀 Also, I completely agree on the noise canceling headphones. They can really help put you in a good place! Hope you’re enjoying your time in Norway, wish I was there! 😁
Tobe, vielen, vielen Dank. What a nice description. Glad we share this experience flying to Europe! You say it so nicely: “To disappear into the night… and reappear in a new place.” Good to be reminded that this is quite awe-some :-)
Such a timely message, Almut. When I first read it, I was myself in flight over the Atlantic, not alone but with two dear friends. Fifty/five years of friendship we share…and now the trip of a lifetime, a tour of the Rhine River. My ancestors left this area 150 years ago and I am blessed to return to these roots. What will I discover? I leave behind a gracious just, a disabled adult son , our 8th child. Haven’t yet figured out who this new being is trying to become! The sparrow is a good place to begin.
Wishing peace and all good for you and those you left behind. And for me and my dear friends. All God’s beloved sparrows.
Lovely, loving meditation. Thank you for miving out of your alone time to share such precious insights with us. Safe travels. Happy conference. Blessings on your talk.
Thanks for this! I have a new wonderful job that I love but it’s starting off with a crazy amount of travel - 7 conferences over 10 weeks. I am only partway through the marathon and although I value the privilege (the kids are launched) and treasure the solitude, I’m feeling a bit stretched thin. I love this reminder to zoom out, and be held, enfolded in God’s peace.
Absolutely beautiful! I wish I were on a plane at night experiencing the beauty. We all long for the beloved moment with God. Thank you.
Bless you, Linda. The best is, I really do not like to be on planes 😇
Thank you Almut, on target to heart, mins, and soul. ❤️. Chris
Bless you, Chris. I 've always loved that triad: heart, mind, soul, well said, thank you.

"Sparrowness" is such a lovely word. Odd, quixotic, common, and with deep resonance to all things that are holy. Thank you.
Yup. Lovely reminder of simplicity and humility needed by me daily

So glad to hear that, Sue, how our journeys meet. I wish you a wonderful trip and experience. And some sparrow moments indeed 🙏

Thank you, Almut. Such awareness of serenity in God's presence is truly a gift.
Thank you, dear Carol, "serenity" is the right word indeed. Thank you.
❤️. Just sit with me ....and be.
Beautiful....
Enjoy your trip.
Bless you, Kathleen. And thank you for sitting with me a bit ... :-)
Lovely!
🙏
Thank you Almut!
Where in Norway will you be?
🇳🇴
Bless you, Lynn, I am 2 hours north of Oslo in a little conference hotel and will also take some time to see Oslo on the way back.
Dear Almut! This is exciting to hear as I am also north of Oslo, in Hamar, which is about an hour from Oslo.
I believe we met together some years with Mary Johnson at St.Olaf College.
Not sure where you are exactly but perhaps there could be a chance to meet up for a cup of coffee? Wondering if you might be near Lillehammer?
Would love to hear from you!
Lynn Rekvig
Lynn, I am indeed close by. Let's talk via DM. I am writing you.
Thank you, Almut! Jean Haslett
You are so welcome here, Jean 🥰
