What a beautiful song--the tune is comforting in itself, and the lyrics are so meaningful... oh my. I will be singing this daily for a while. Thank you.
Although I have a subscription I am no longer able to access this beautiful song as I used to be able to do. I checked to show I wasn't a bot, but it didn't take me to a site that would prove I wasn't a bot. How might I continue to access it? June Hiza
I am sorry to hear this, June. Have you tried form another device? Sometime when I am on my iPad YouTube is not working for me because I am using a privacy filter which apparently looks for YouTube like a bot.
But as the video is integrated in the post it should actually just play regardless of YouTube.
Went out after a third try and was able to access again. I've pulled out the very old paperback copy of Bonhoeffer's book "The Cost of Disciple-Ship" published in a paperback addition in 1963. I was either a sophomore or junior in high school when I first read it. It was a gift from my Dad. June
Thank you for teaching me this poem and song several years ago in your posts. They helped through the pandemic and political turmoil that touch people so personally. Your words and his this year are a special balm as my family is grieving the sudden loss of my brother’s vivacious wife at 59. Her spouse, young adult children, and tiny grandchildren and we enter the new year with heavy hearts of grief and gratitude, along with so many others. I appreciate the shared theme of Courage across the world in this moment to which we are all called. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Oh, thank you for saying this, Carol. I every year wonder if I should go back to this Bonhoeffer tradition or offer something "new" instead. Also, I am so very sorry to hear about the tragic loss of your family. I will hold your pain here with us on the journey. Thank you for sharing and may our reflections and prayers carry you and yours through the unfolding year.
This was a really meaningful post for me. There are so many suffering and then comes this beautiful hymn from Bonhoeffer. With a grateful, overflowing heart. June H.

So good to hear, dear Karen. May your new year feel sheltered by gracious powers.
I so love this song, grew up with it in Germany ❣️
Oh, wie schön. Er gehört für mich irgendwie dazu zu Silvester, oder? Ein frohes neues Jahr and thank you for being here.

Geht mir genauso. LG nach Australien!

Any one else has a tip for June?

Glad to hear that, June. Glad also that you read Bonhoeffer already in Highschool!
